SEGAS (the Hellenic Athletics Federation) and the City of Athens/OPANDA begin the grand effort to “restart” the road race events in Greece and return to a social lifestyle, starting with the staging of Athens Half Marathon event in September 12th 2021, supported by the Region of Attica, and Event Grand Sponsor ERGO Insurance.

The 2021 Athens Half Marathon event will apply all safety rules and regulations of the National Public Health Organization, and abide by the “Road Races Staging Health Protocol” that shall be regularly reviewed in accordance with the indications by the relevant Health Committee of Ministry of Sports.

According to the current Health Protocol, only fully vaccinated runners and runners with proof of recovery from COVID-19 until 15 days before their runners’ kit collection from the Registration Centre (until Saturday 11/9 before the race day) can register and participate in the 2021 Athens Half Marathon event.

After concluding the last refund requests from the 2020 event’s cancellation and assessing the deferred entries from last year’s edition, the Organizing Committee has decided to start the registration period with a few limited entries.

Runners with deferred entries will automatically receive their new registration confirmation with all relevant information, by priority, before the registration period opens, and we would like to thank them once more for their support and trust!

For the limited entries available, the registration period will start on Thursday July 8th 2021 (at 02.00 pm) exclusively via our official website (www.athinahalfmarathon.gr). As we want to make sure you have all the necessary information, please make sure to check out the event’s COVID-19 Cancellation Policy before registering to the event.

Over the next period, we will make announcements regarding the staging and registration period of the Authentic Marathon that is scheduled for November 13-14th 2021, as well as the pending refunds timeline from the 2020 Athens Marathon cancellation. We would like to thank once more all runners for their support and patience in this process.

SEGAS, the leader of running events in Greece, is really looking forward to bringing back the running lifestyle in Greece, always in accordance to all guidelines of the Health and Public Authorities, hoping that a successful Athens Half Marathon event will lead to the return of the Authentic Marathon in November, the biggest and most successful sport, running, and impactful event in Greece.
