New Date for the 2020 Athens Half Marathon due to anti-Covid 19 measues - To be held on 20 September 2020

Given the approved Health Protocal on Road Races by the appropriate authorities of the Greek State, there are changes in the time schedule and structure of the 2020 Athens Half Marathon event 



Age Limit

In order for a runner to be eligible to participate in the Half Marathon Race, he/she needs to be at least 18 years old (born in 2002 or older).



Event's Registration Centre: SERAFIO SPORTS & EXHIBITION CENTRE
(160 Piraeus Avenue, 118 54 Athens)

The Registration Centre, from where all REGISTERED runners need to collect their race bib (with embedded timing chip) and kit bag, is hosted in the SERAFIO SPORTS & EXHIBITION CENTRE, and it will be open for the public the following days and hours:

Wendesday 16 September 2020: 10.00 - 20.00
Thursday 17 September 2020: 10.00 – 20.00
Friday 18 September 2020: 10.00 – 20.00
Saturday 19 September 2020: 10.00 - 20.00

Description of the Half Marathon Route

Course- NEW ROUTE: Ring Route (Rigillis - Mesogeion Avenue - Omonoia)
The New Half Marathon Route goes as follows:
Syntagma Square, Amalias - Panepistimiou – Aiolou (left) – Stadiou (left) – Syntagma Square – Amalias (right) – Amalias/Olgas Junction – Amalias (Andrianou Arch) – Athanasiou Diakou (left) - Kalirrois/Vouliagmenis/Arditou Junction – Arditou (left) - Olgas/Vas. Konstantinou Junction – straight on Vas. Konstantinou (Fokianos) – Vas. Konstantinou to Eratosthenous – Vas. Sofias – Mesogeion (right) – Feidippidou (left) - Vas. Sofias/Kifisias/Alexandras Junction – Alexandras (right) – Alexandras/Patision Junction – Patision (right, Kypseli side) – U turn on Kefallinias – Patision (Sepolia side) – Marnis (right) – 3rd September (left) – Omonoia – Panepistimiou (left) - Patision (left) – Stournari (Polytechnio side towards Patisia – Alexandras (right of Egypt Square) – Alexandreas (city centre side) – Vas. Start and Finish Time

The Half Marathon Race will stat at 07.30am. The race will end at 11.35am, and by that time all runners need to have reached the finish line.



Medical Certificate

All runners participate in the event ON THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITY. The Organizing Committee bears no responsibility for any issue related to the participants’ health due to the lack of complete pre-race medical check. It is recommended that all participants have recently gone through a full range medical exam before the event. Those that are already diagnosed with any kind of heart problems or have any indication of such, should take extra notice of this and pay extra attention before registering in the event. It is recommended that all runners, regardless age, are gone through a detailed cardio check before participating in the event.The Organizing Committee will not request any written medical certification given that all runners participate in the event on exclusively their own responsibility.



Feed Zones

Feed zones are available along the Half Marathon Race course. Bottled water is offered at the Start, the Finish and all feed zones. Furthermore, isotonic drinks are offered to the Half Marathon runners in one of the feed zones along the course.



Awards

Distinction medals are awarded only to the first three winners of the Race, Men and Women. All runners to finish the race receive a finishers’ medal, and may download their personalized participation certificate after the announcement of the Official Race Results.
