Following the success of the mobile application during the 2016 Athens Marathon, when more than 20,000 unique users connected to it and actually used, our APP is back in order to share the “Athens Half Marathon” experience with those that wish to “follow” their friends and family members running, and provided useful information to the runners themselves.

A few days before the 2017 Athens Half Marathon event, online registrations have closed. However, In case you are still interested in participating in this year’s event, you need to contact our offices, as a few entries in the Half Marathon Race and the 3km Road Race are still available. 

More than 20,000 runners will participate in this year’s event, that includes the Half Marathon Race as well as 5km & 3km Races and a 1000m Race for Kids and Disable. That mass participation in the event sets a record itself.

The official registration period of the 2015 Athens Half Marathon event ended today, with the closing of online registrations for the Half Marathon Race as well as the 5km & 3km Road Races.

SEGAS and the Organizing Committee of the 2015 Athens Half Marathon would like to thank the runners that responded positively to our call and registered for this year’s event, wishing them all the best in their efforts.

ATTENTION: THIS ARTICLE REFERS TO ATHENS AUTHENTIC MARATHON (NOVEMBER 2015)

SEGAS, the Hellenic Athletics Federation and Organizer of the “ATHENS MARATHON. THE AUTHENITC” is pleased to announce that registrations for the 10km & 5km Road Races will open on April 1st, and invites everyone interested to participate to submit his/her registration in time, as due to the great popularity of these two races the maximum participation limit is expected to be met within a few hours if not in less!.

On this occasion, we would like to thank the runners that are showing their interest in the races of the ATHENS MARATHON and to underline the fact that SEGAS is handling the huge demand for participation (three, not to say four, times bigger than what the safety limits in each race allow) with high responsibility and setting as primary criteria the protection, safety and satisfaction of the runners.

Unfortunately, we are not able to satisfy this enormous demand for participation in the 5km and 10km Road Races.

The safety requirements, the incumbent provision of high level services to the runners, the regularity of the city center as well as the access and infrastructure limitations of the Panathinaikon Stadium, have led us to the identification of 9,000 entries as the maximum registration limit for each one of these races.

We have rejected any thought to increase this limit against safety and quality. SEGAS does not work and plan based on market’s mentality. That is why we have kept the registration fee at the same level for eight years in row, at the lowest possible level in comparison with other races of the same level, and the same stands for the standards of the services we offer. As it is known, this year’s increase of the registration fee is only 2 and 3 Euro in the 5km and 10km Road Race respectively, and was only decided so that we support with our own resources and not public funds which are not available any more, the national goal of having the international seat of the Marathon movement in our country.

The Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) is proud to announce the staging of the 4th ATHENS HALF MARATHON on 03 May 2015. The Athens Half Marathon is an international event open to all and a unique opportunity for runners from Greece and abroad to participate in an ideal race in the heart of spring, along and next to the most significant and historical buildings and sites on the streets of the Athens City Centre. The Athens Half Marathon is a race addressed at the same time to those that wish to test themselves before running a Marathon Race, as well as to the runners of shorter distances, who participating either in the 5km or the 3km Road Race of the event join the biggest city ‘s celebration.

Registrations opened on 17 February 2015

The Athens Half Marathon, which will celebrate its fourth anniversary this year, has become indeed a major event for the City of Athens in spring, with thousands of participants from Greece and abroad, spreading bright smiles all around the city. More than 18,000 runners from all over Greece and abroad are expected to participate in this year’s Athens Half Marathon event. The main aim of the Organizers is for the event to continue improving and developing as to the level and number of international and local participants, providing the best possible quality services to everyone.

The official Registrations Period opened on 17 February 2015. Registrations for the Half Marathon race as well as the 5km and 3km Road Races are possible after 17 February through the event’s website. We invite all runners to keep themselves updated and submit their registration soon after the opening of the registrations period, so that they secure their place in the race of their choice. The participation limits are strict and registrations will close as soon as they are met. 7,000 runners will participate in the Half Marathon race, while 7,000 runners will participate in the 5km Road Race and another 4,000 in the WIND 3km Road Race.

The way runners responded in 2014 was impressive. On 03 May 2015, even more will be present at the Start Line!

The city of Athens is celebrating tomorrow by hosting approximately 12,000 runners who will participate at the 3rd Athens Half Marathon.

The interest of the citizens and visitors of Athens to participate in the event was extremely high, something that was evident today when hundreds of runners showed up at Fokianos Gym in order to secure a place in the Half Marathon Race (21k), the 5km Road  Race, and/or the 3km WIND Race. The Athens Half Marathon, organized by SEGAS in cooperation with the Municipality and BMW Hellas being its Major Sponsor, is a high scale event held in Athens during spring time, taking under consideration its sport as well as its cultural and tourist impact.

Some of the top Greek runners in long distance races will participate at the event. The Athens Half Marathon starts at 8am, 15 minutes later the 3km WIND race , and at 10.30am the 5km race.

 

In order to secure the quality and success of this large event, the Athens Traders Association decided to allow the stores to open an hour after the scheduled time, from 11 to 12 am, so that both the runners and spectators are facilitated.

A few days before the Race ,,,,, Online registrations for the event closed two weeks ago, while those who are still interested in participating either in the Half Marathon or the 5km Road Race, may submit their registration at SEGAS Headquarters (137 Syngrou Avenue, from 09.00 to 15.00) up until Wednesday April 30.

Starting from Thursday May 01 and up to Saturday May 03, those who are still interested in participating in the event (Half Marathon Race or 5km Road Race), should get to the premises of the I. FOKIANOS GYM (just across the Panathinaikon Stadium, from 11.00 to 20.00), and proceed with their registrations, given that there are still available entries.

Those who wish to participate in the 3km Road Race may contact any of the Municipal Gyms of the City of Athens, or submit their registration online at the website of the City of Athens, www.cityofathens.gr, up until Thursday May 01. In any case, you could also get to the I. FOKIANOS GYM (just across the Panathinaikon Stadium, from 11.00 to 20.00), and proceed with your registration on the spot.

The Athens Half Marathon Registration Centre will be accommodated in the I. FOKIANOS GYM, from May 01 to May 03, 10.00 to 20.00 all three days. All registered runners and those to register these last days before the race, will pick up their bib number and race kit from there.

Please note that no bib numbers will be available the day of the Race.
